The Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association “is Australia’s premier in-service support organisation for music educators, instrumental music teachers and band & orchestra directors. ABODA pledges an ongoing commitment to the growth of music education and community music making throughout all areas of the country.”
ABODA was founded in 1985. The organisation is made up of over 800 members Australia-wide. State branches operate in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. The Victorian branch also serves Tasmania.
The government’s culture and recreation portal has a page on the special topic of military music, with links to six military bands and numerous other ‘useful links’ including the Australian Army Band Corps Association, navy and police bands.
