This page heads one of the main parts of the knowledge base, dealing with the range of live performances. The subheadings in the sidebar under ‘live performances’ fall into two groups:
- The first group concerns venues and audiences. This includes the special categories of community music and music festivals, as per the sidebar.
- The second group is about genres, starting with what has become ‘classical’ and then proceeding to popular music and specialist genres such as jazz, country and western, folk, and world music.
Technology enters into the description of the music sector in numerous ways, including live performances. We refer to the special page on digital delivery following the descriptions of individual genres.
